Jamaica Holiday

Jamaica’s charms and Caribbean dreams are as bountiful as its fresh tropical fruit. The swaying palm trees, white sands, transparent waters and exotic sea life are just part of the magic. For a true Jamaican holiday join hands in a human chain to climb the spectacular Dunn’s River Falls, a 600-foot phenomenon and one of Jamaica’s national treasures, or immerse yourself in the aroma of the world-renowned Blue Mountain coffee in a visit to its plantation before exploring the beautiful, unspoilt village of Port Antonio, once the playground of the rich and famous.

Inland, the stunning Blue Mountains attract hikers, limestone caves tempt spelunkers, and spectacular waterfalls will amaze just about anyone. On a holiday to Jamaica, play a leisurely round of golf, do a spot of bird watching or ride horses on the beach. Negril has seven miles of soft white sand, the longest beach in Jamaica. Ocho Rios, Turtle Beach and Island Village Beach are also up there with the best of them, whilst Falmouth’s Fishermen’s Beach offers a quieter coastline.

Alive with reggae and ragga, Jamaica has a fantastic night vibe. Head for James Street in Ocho Rios, for bars and discos galore, or Island Village, home of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, where 100-ft long waterslide plunges over the bar into a freshwater pool. In Negril, open-air reggae concerts are staged nightly in peak season or hit the bars and discos of the West End.

A holiday to Jamaica is also perfect if you enjoy traditional crafts, performing arts and distinctive dining options. Ackee and saltfish with roast breadfruit is a traditional dish. Take a trip to the world-renowned Rick’s Café and see the spectacular cliff divers before enjoying an ice cold drink in front of a beautiful sunset.
